Practice: Service

About the Practice of Service

In a world shaped by self-interest and hurry, Jesus invites us into a different way of living — the way of humble, self-giving love through service. In this series, we’ll explore how serving others in ordinary, hidden, and interruptible ways can form us more deeply into the likeness of Jesus and open us to the transforming work of God.

In this practice, you are invited to embrace what Mother Theresa described as “doing small things in great love”.

01 Love

04 Kinship

We’ll be using the resources from Practicing the Way. They have divided up the practice of scripture into four sessions based on the practices of Jesus.

Growth Group Discussion Guides

Our growth groups will be meeting during their regular times on Tuesday evening, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. During our growth groups during the Service Practice, we engage in stories and deeper discussions about serving in the way of Jesus.

Conversations about Scripture

In these conversations, Tyler Staton speaks with people serving in different capacities across the world. They explore how they found their place of service, and how Love, Hiddenness, Availability, and Kinship have both confronted and formed them as they serve. We cannot recommend these conversations more highly as you engage this practice.
